Re: Malware Alert

I replaced Windows Defender with F-Secure this morning. I was able to download and install Log4OM 1.25 with no issues. 73, K3GWK Glad you got things working. I would add that you can use Windows Defender OK if you "whitelist" this particular alert. It's easy to do, but not completely obvi...

Note: https://github.com/gluck/il-repack/issues/152

Same issue, probably false positive. Does Log4OM use this routine?

Re: Malware Alert

Problem continues. Log4OM has now been killed for the 3rd time by Windows Defender. The interval was 5-6 days, if that means anything, even with "automatic updates" disabled. The situation now is that Win Defender will not allow me to re-install Log4OM_1_25_0_0.exe at all, saying that it f...

Re: Malware Alert

I am seeing this problem (fethar.B!cl) also found by Windows Defender on up-to-date Windows 10. I reloaded Log4OM and it ran ok for about 5 days of light operations, then croaked again. So it appears that the binary is OK, but is getting polluted somehow. Perhaps it is one of the external databases ...

Re: Launching Log4OM from Python

Aha. I note that I am running Python apps under Windows that seem to have full functionality for network & process creation without payments. Probably other scripting/programming environments would work, too. (Like cygwin) Getting it all packaged "for dummies" may be the problem. And w...

Re: Launching Log4OM from Python

Interesting! But I have many Windows apps that open ports - browsers and other network clients... It must be possible to "bless" your app with this ability somehow.

Launching Log4OM from Python

I am trying to launch Log4OM from a Python CGI script. (It is supposed to configure my software operating environment.) The problem is that Log4OM needs Administrator privileges (*) and this seems to be hard to organize in Python (or other scripts?) The subprocess module quits with error "The r...

Re: Date formats - settable?

We need an international standard for representation of date and time. The ISO provides one, but I don't know if anyone actually uses it!

If there is no good standard, then we should have self-identifying formats of some kind.

Re: Date formats - settable?

Thanks for the pointer. So apparently I have to choose on a system-wide basis? I'd prefer to use American style when doing non logbook tasks. We can't have everything!

Date formats - settable?

I can't believe this hasn't been addressed before, but I can't find it in the otherwise thorough manual or in the forum. Log4OM is giving me dates in "American" style (MM.DD.YY), but almost all QSL cards are handled in (I suppose) "Euro" style (DD.MM.YY). Then there is the ISO st...
