Hi Ray,
VSP is covered in the user guide.

I also use FT commander with my 817 connected to a VSP with Log4OM and FLDigi, works great and I have had contacts all over the globe with my Alex Loop and ATX walkabout antennas.

I use a modified Elecraft KX1 key for CW and just now I am experimenting with grafting the Elecraft key to my G4ZLP Digimaster Pro Three for the Winkeyer emulation facility.

When that is done I have a great portable station for all modes QRP
