Hello everybody,
I don't know if this is already an option, but is it possible to specify the format of the date and time on the QSL labels as day-month-year like 20-MAY-2015 and the time as a 24-hours rather than AM or PM?
Thanks and 73,

It's a good point.

Thanks for pointing us on that.

If I remember well the date time format is set by whatever Windows Date time setting is selected in the Windows OSIW3HMH wrote:It's a good point.

Re: Label Date and Time Format
Yes, this is true, but an option to "force" the format could be useful.

Re: Label Date and Time Format
Thank you both for considering this suggestion. The label might also want to explicitly say "UTC".
Terry, if the month isn't made clear in the date the format could be ambiguous to some people. I understand the date as mm/dd/yyyy, but someone else could assume it is dd/mm/yyyy. I started working for my current employer in Germany on November 4, 1991. My records there were dated 4.11.91, but when I moved back to the US some of my records here showed I started on April 11.
I am still thrilled by how well the QSL management works with your logging system!

Re: Label Date and Time Format
Dana,
The problem is the space available on the label, the label above is a large roll printer label 38x90 mm, most users use something similar to Avery 7160 which is 21 labels per A4 sheet in three columns.
We struggle to fit everything into the real estate available but it becomes difficult when the date required is 25 December 2015 (16 character spaces)
Even 25-May-2015 as your example is 11 characters whereas 25/05/2015 is only ten characters and sometimes a user may need to change the default Windows short date to 25/05/15 only 8 characters because of a small label size!
So you see that it would work for someone that uses the roll label in the example above but it becomes very difficult for someone using small labels.
I beleive that if a user did not find the QSO because he interpreted the date format incorrectly he would soon realise his error and quickly locate the correct date.
That is not to say that it's impossible but sometimes we have to accept short format dates for expediency.

Re: Label Date and Time Format
Terry,
I can see your point. I use the 8160 labels which come 30 to a letter-sized sheet. It would be possible to reduce the size to 25DEC15, which is 7 characters.
Anyway, I had been thinking about what I thought was a potential problem and have come to agree with your point of view as far as matching QSOs. Card checkers would not be concerned about the format of the date and time. The other station would probably do a search on the call sign to find the QSO and would quickly figure out if the date and time matched.
So how do you set the format of the time? I'm running Windows 7.
Thanks!

Control panel click "Date and Time"
Click "Change date and time...."
Now click the underlined text "Change calendar settings"
Go to the date tab and select the required settings from the drop down menus

Re: Label Date and Time Format
Thanks Terry. It worked like a charm, and I even got the formats I originally suggested. I'm a happy man.
