Log4OM

The recent 1.36.00 update was applied today. Unfortunately, once again, my 60m band-plan customizations have been lost. The number of threads relating to this, suggest a feature update is justified.

Also, aside from anything else, hacking raw XML files by hand is onerous.

Can I propose a persistent configuration of band plans please. I propose one additional piece of functionality located adjacent to the 'Find Using my ITU' button thus.

Log4OM Settings -> Station Info -> Find Using my ITU (current functionality)
Log4OM Settings -> Station Info -> Edit Band Edges (Proposed functionality)

The second button allows an ON SCREEN configuration of the band plans. Presumably you have a class to serialize the band data to the XML file. Therefore a simple list-style UI should be sufficient to render the band / mode edges. The installer would keep the existing 'golden copy' user configuration file but continue to distribute the 'default' band plans, for those who can use them, but not mandate them on each update.

Please do this test. Make a copy of bandplan_r1.xml into bandplan_r1_user.xml
Then uninstall Log4OM and reinstall. The user file will not be removed. Log4OM give priorities to user files and uninstall don't touch them.
As far as I understood you directly changed the main xml and yes, this will be replaced...

Thanks for the quick reply. I will do this. I was sure that I had read about a workaround. Its remains my view that this approach is esoteric, non-intuitive and out-of-date. A UI configuration feature shouldn't be too difficult and would make a great product even better.

I agree, but the user interface will work on the same data file structure.
Files are simple, other data structures are more elegant but, also, more complicated for casual users or not skilled pc users. Resources are now on v2 or more frequently used features in v1.

FYI I edited the bandplan_r1.xml according to the Norwegian bandplan and saved it as "bandplan_dxcc266.xml"
Works great
