Parallel Port support

Post by g4drs »

I use an automatic antenna switch system connected to an LPT port on my PC.
Using this port, my current logging software automatically selects the correct antenna, by setting the LPT port pins according to Yaesu BCD protocol, for whichever of my 3 radios is currently in use.
Is it possible to use such a device in Log4OM? If so, how? If not, what would be the best way to go about automatic antenna switching?

Thanks,

John

Hi John,
I am using PSTRotator Software with Log4OM, it works fine: https://www.qsl.net/yo3dmu/index_Page346.htm
I have an automatic rotor control and also an automatic antenna switch system by KMTronic controlled by PSTRotator.
We need an external device to command the antenna switch.
Here you have the website from where I bought KMTronic "a relay card" to command the remote antenna switch : https://sigma-shop.com/
All the system works via USB, and very easy to make it work.
My TX/RX is Kenwood, not having possibilty to send band encode as Yaesu, but it works fine with Log4OM (since version1) :D
Have a nice day.

Hi Terry,

I have bought mine about 12 years ago and still works fine (using sometimes OM2500HF Linear)
It was built by a friend CT1ILT here is the website : https://www.rep.pt/ct1ilt/6pack.php
KMTronic works with any remote coax switching, requires a 7-wire conductor (similar with rotor cable) + 12 V
I have my remote coax switching outside in the tower.
I have possibilty to make it work with Log4OM or manually, I have a switch: ( Position A automatic from Log4Om, Position B I need to choose the antenna manually, in case I do not have comptuter on!)
I have Tribander10,15,20 + dualband 12,17M + Dipoles for 40,30+ Dipole for 80M and Inverted L160M + Dummy Load Heath Cantenna :D ). Only one antenna cable enters to the station.
I hope I have given you an idea of the system.
Have nice day, and the dog is happy you remember :D
