Upload to LOTW problem

Post by M7CRH »

Hi, I'm Chris, a new user, and new to amateur radio, Log4OM, LOTW etc,.

I'm trying to get the automatic upload to LOTW working and at present at close the program seems to hang, Just left with the close screen indefinitely. Far longer than 2 minutes. Eventually I have to close using the Task Manager. This has never worked for me.
Version: 2.18.0.0
This is the log from the close message:

The Task manager shows that TQSL.exe is running, I suppose that the upload process causes tqsl.exe to be started in the command line mode.

My best guess is that I've not got some part of the set up correct but I'm not sure what. I've attached the LOTW External Services page.

I'm not sure what should be set, the user and password are set to the ones provided on the callsign certificate message from the LOTW people.
The executable and temporary paths are correct, and the log shows action with these.
Not sure what else I can try, I've misunderstood something somewhere, but what?

Hope you can help,
Chris
BTW I can select the adif file manually in tqsl and update manually.

Try a manual upload in Log4OM using the QSL manager, see if that works OK

Yes, a manual upload using the QSL manager is fine.

TQSL is version 2.5.9, TrustedQSL library V2.5, Configuration data V11.15

Turn on Trace mode in the help menu

try another auto upload

Then check the logfile again it will display more detailed information

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE! DO NOT DISPLAY LOGFILE CONTENTS ON THE FORUM BECAUSE SOMETIMES YOUR PRIVATE INFO IS INCLUDED

I've tried with trace enabled and obtained a log with a lot more information.
From what I can see TQSL.exe is started but never returns anything. Log4OM sits waiting and that's it.

Can I post the log somewhere? I don't seem to be able to send PMs.

It this was mine I'd put a timeout in the tqsl.exe management thread so if you don't get a response in a reasonable time you can close down cleanly - or not block the UI thread so the user can close.

Make sure that you have the latest TQSL build, library and config installed as per the image below

Set the temporary folder in the External services/LOTW tab to C:\Users\YOUR USER NAME\AppData\Roaming\Log4OM2\temp and try again

Thanks, tried that. no difference. Log4OM still hangs and needs closing using the Task Manager.

Discovered that the TRACE setting has to be enabled every time but have log data for the close. The last LOTWManagement lines are:

Don't think there is anything sensitive there, if you need the full log let me know.

I thought I'd try running tqsl with the parameters from the log file in a command prompt:
C:\Program Files (x86)\TrustedQSL>tqsl.exe -d -u -f update -a all -q -x -l "Cherryfield" "C:\Users\chris\AppData\Roaming\Log4OM2\temp\LOTW_UPLOAD_20211209150549.adi"

C:\Program Files (x86)\TrustedQSL>tqsl.exe

C:\Program Files (x86)\TrustedQSL>
Nothing appeared to happen, tqsl just returned with no action, but running tqsl with no parameters starts its UI.

I'm a retired software developer and this is all terribly familiar, interfacing with external programs is really difficult.

It's a shame that TQSL is so unforthcoming.

Its a hard one to track because its not happening to everyone.

Please send a support request to lele@pisto.it making sure that you set to Trace mode then try another auto upload first.

Who is lele@pisto.it? Isn't this the correct place to ask for support?

Anyway I've posted a message to that email address, attaching the log file for today.
