Loss of connection to Omnirig in ver 2.7.0.0

Post by G4AON »

On three occasions, Log4OM has lost connection to Omnirig. Running ver 1.41 in parallel shows both radios connected and I can switch rigs in ver 1.41 while 2.7,0,0 is unable to communicate with Omnirig.

Omnirig is ver 1.19, rig 1 is a K3 on RS232 and rig 2 is an IC-9700. Both Log4OM and Omnirig are running at "user level", not "admin" level.

AFAIK, the problem is with ver 2.7.0.0. and not present in ver 2.6.1.0

I have a support request/debug trace file generated when the problem happened. I am currently running 2.6.1.0 to see if the same happens in that version.

Update... Problem also present in 2.6.1.0

Using Windows 10 Pro 64 bit, 2004. Both Omnirig and Log4OM running as "user", not as "admin".

Doing that now, to see if the issue is still present.

I am using both Log4OM and Omnirig as "administrator" and Log4OM lost contact with Omnirig this morning... Both radios turned on when it happened. Log4OM ver 2.7.0.2 and Omnirig 1.19

BTW, needing to run a program as "administrator" is an indication the program is needing to write to a directory that is considered as needing protection by Windows. Can the program not be changed to write where it is allowed, if indeed it is the case that admin access is needed in order to run the program.

Hi Dave, that´s only one side of the medal. Administrative privileges are also use to let Omnirig work togehther with more than
one other software (Multithreading). So if you use Omnirig together with Log4OM and WSJT-X/JTDX (as example) all these
softwares must be run as administrator.
