V2.11.0.0 double-click on Cluster (F8) not working

Post by dk2lo »

Was in User Support: "Strange CAT behaviour with K3s"

Environment:
LOG4OM V11.0.0
Omnirig 1.19
Windows 10 pro 64 bit

Error:
Double click in Cluster (F8) does not change Frequency when mode is the same.

Works perfect in Bandmap and works also in separate Cluster View Window opened via View Tab. Also LOG4OM follows the K3 VFO A and B via CAT (mode and frequency) immediately. So it is not a general CAT-problem, just a very specific one.

Olaf,
This is working fine for me, have you updated the K3 firmware?

I am also using Win 10 pro 64 bit with latest public Log4om 2.11 and Omnirig 1.19

This is my Omnirig set up if it helps you, would be interested to hear from other Elecraft users.

Hi Terry,

yes I am on the latest K3 firmware 5.67. My configuration looks very similar as yours:

Did you send mode before frequency in the config?

Is any other software running?

Did you try it with your anti virus and firewall temporarily dissabled?

Is Omnirig and Log4om set to 'Run as an administator'?

Tried "send mode before freq"
Stopped also all other programs including Internet browser
Omnirig and LOG4OM "Run as admin"
I only use standard Defender security. I never switch it off when in the Internet...

Still the same problem. It ONLY occurs when mode is NOT changed! A real mystery.

Olaf,

I use a K3, OmniRig for my CAT interface. My current configuration is noted below. Not terribly different from yours.

I can double-click on any spot from the Cluster (F8) tab and the proper band changes are made and will also change to new frequency in the same band.

I use a USB cable from my laptop (with Log4OM V2) to the KIO3B input to my K3. I did update/upgrade to the newer KIO3B board in my K3.

I do not have a sub-receiver in my K3.

Seeing as how I seldom run digital as I'm ~99% CW ... I do not run Log4OM V2 and OmniRig in Admin mode as (for my use) it is not necessary.

My testing today was simply my laptop connected to my K3 via USB cable and I only had Log4OM V2 running on my laptop.

I'm able to have the double-click function FB from both the Cluster (F8) tab and a separate BandMap window.

Nolan,

thanks for reply. I use a K3s with the USB-connection for digital modes and the serial port for CAT.
I tried already different CAT connections. Direct via RS232 port at my desktop and via USB to serial converter.

The problem only occurs in the "F8 window" and when mode is not changed. E. g. changing LSB on 40m to USB on 20m is working, but changing from CW to CW or from USB to USB does not work. No such problems in bandmap or cluster view.

So the question is, what is different in "F8 window" for my K3s configuration?

But Olaf I tested in the F8 window for same mode different frequencies/bands as you described and it worked perfectly.

Have you tried different cables, K3 reset, without the firewall etc?

Terry,

yes I believe you.

I tried also different cables. It seems that I only have this mysterious behaviour. Something must be wrong in my configuration.

Fortunately I can easily sail around this problem by using the bandmap or the cluster view.

I will report here when I have solved this strange issue.

Olaf,
I have had some strange situations in the past where I experiences a problem that none of the testers could emulate, we think it was due to corrupt user xml files.

A couple of time a clean install after a thorough and full uninstall cured the issue, perhaps thats worth trying?
