SOTA in Log4OM V2 HOWTO?

Post by HB9BRJ »

Hi all,

Yes, I have read the awards section in the user manual, but there are no SOTA examples.

My workflow in V1.4 was like this:
- paper log during the activation
- back home, edit station info and enter QSOs
- Statistics and Awards, SOTA, set filter criteria to see my activation
- "Export current data" then showed the QSO list of my activation
- "Export as Activator" created a CSV file I could upload to the SOTA database.

In V2.1 I'm still completely lost:
- hundreds of imported QSOs are showing "My References" like "SOTA@DM/BW-235"
- in "Awards statistics", SOTA, I see the grid of my chased references per band
- switching to "Activator view" in "Award filters", Refresh still shows references
I have worked but never activated. Clicking one of them opens the QSO data where
his and my SOTA ref are highlighted in green. So the list is actually showing S2S
(called reference to reference in Log4OM).
- switching to "Reference to reference view" is showing the same list!

Question 1: Could it be that "Activator view" also shows the "Ref to Ref view"?
Question 2: Can Log4OM produce a SOTA database-ready CSV and if yes how do I create one?

Watch the YouTube video

Yes it produces csv files for SOTA but SOTA now also accepts ADIF files

Thanks Terry for the 1st SOTA video. Entering and editing SOTA QSOs works fine in 2.1.0.0.

I have hundreds of chaser/activator/S2S QSOs in my log and did some more tests to find out which references (and QSOs when clicking one of the refs) are shown in each of the 3 views:
AwardsStatisticsQSOVisibility.png
AwardsStatisticsQSOVisibility.png (7.49 KiB) Viewed 3606 times
The colors are representing my personal judgement:
Green = ok, red = not ok.

New SOTA database accepts Log4OM V2.3 ADIF

Post by HB9BRJ »

The new SOTA database https://newsotadata.sota.org.uk/en/ accepts ADIF uploads. Yesterday I activated 4 summits in nearby DM/BW, resulting in about 40 QSOs, 7 of them summit-to-summit. For the time being, entering QSOs into Log4OM V2.x is in my opinion not as easy as it was in V1.4, but the Log4OM team is working hard towards a better solution. Stay tuned...

Good news: In the V2.3 QSO manager, I selected yesterday's QSOs, exported them as ADIF and uploaded the file to the new SOTA database (see link above). On the verification screen, everything was nicely shown in tabular form, and everything was correct! Because I have uploaded the same QSOs earlier from a CSV generated in Log4OM V1.4, all of them were correctly labelled as duplicates. Of course I cancelled the upload but wanted to let you know about my findings.
