CAT Control with Xiego G90

Post by N5ER »

Having trouble getting my version 2.04 to connect to my Xiego G90. Using a Laptop with Windows 10. If it matters the G90 is running version 1.733 firmware.

Usual questions

What are you using Hamlib or Omnirig?

Describe what does not work, like no freq display, no band or mode change from cluster

Have you ever had any radio working satisfactorily with CAT in Log4OM

Does/has the radio ever worked with CAT on any other software

Just saying it dont work is like saying my car dont go - No gears? engine dont run? etc etc etc

Trying to help, but just via collection info on the web.

Found that it seems to use the IC-7000 CIV protocol.

https://www.maniaradio.it/dati/IC7000BKT.pdf
COM settings on page 17.

In OmniRig in the Log4OM Connect tab (2nd from left) -->CAT --< Show Cat Interface and there select IC-7000.
Settings default seems ok except speed has to be set to 19200.

Probably afterwards a manual Start CAT is needed. You can set this in the general configuration menu if this should happen at startup of Log4OM.

Version 2.04 ???

Is that a typo or did you mean Version 2.4

Be sure you have updated Log4OM V2 to the most current release as well.

Sounds like either a mismatch between the radio and the computer of Baud rate or com port, or maybe the interface cable is faulty

I dont know the radio but some radios need to have CAT turned on in the menu if the connection port serves other functions

Would be good to know, maybe some screenshots, of the current OmniRig settings in Log4OM. Can you do this?

Also check that for both RIG1 and RIG2 in the OmniRig settings there is no reference to other COM ports than the one used for the Xiegu G90.

Note there are 3 places where speed needs to be set/checked:
- at the radio (if there is an option)
- in W10 device settings for the COM port in use
- in OmniRig config screen

In case of mismatch nothing will happen.

Also in general on W10/OmniRig defaults will be ok.
