Beware of latest Win 10 Update!

This afternoon I received a notice from Microsoft that my version of Windows 10 was about to expire, and an update needed to be scheduled. I disregarded the notice and checked the Windows Update within the program. It was legit, so I did the update. 15 minutes later the PC rebooted, and I kept getting an error message that “a profile could not be loaded” – Win 10 would not load! Seems this is a common problem after some updates, but the fixes aren’t so easy.

I decided to do a restart using the power button on my PC. That got the PC to boot, but surprise, every config file for every program, appeared to be gone! Even LOG4OM could not find my station config file. Out of desperation I did a “restart” (not shut down) and the visual appearance started looking like my old install. Did another “restart” and magically all the programs were back to normal operation.

Just make sure you have everything backed up! Hope this will avoid any premature cardiac incidents for you
