Hey,
I am with some difficult to settings FT8 on my Yaesu FT-950.
First, I was using JTDX, Omnirig and FT-950. In radio I was using the mode USB/PKT and PTT by CAT. Ok, I was making some QSOs, but with some problems in TX/RX. Lost many signals also. But, the LOG4OM logged like FT8 correctly.
Then, a friend told me thats the correct is use on radio the mode USB. Change my settings on WSJT-Z (using this now) and radio, to TX/RX with USB (only) mode in radio, but now the LOG4OM is logging my FT8 QSOs like USB. I need change all the time this, and lock this mode. But, if I change to make contacts in phone mode, I have change this again.
Is there some settings to change this and associate the frequency (ex. 24.915) to FT8... out of this frequency, radio information is associate.

Re: FT8 logging like USB
Hello Rey
I use practically the same here : Omnirig - FTdx5000 - JTDX
FTdx5000 is always on USB Mode and JTDX settings are also on USB Mode (Settings / Radio)
How that works ( I think) :
Omnirig detects via the CAT that the FTdx5000 is in USB Mode
so Log4OM receives this information and displays the mode in USB
If You write a call into the Field "Callsign" in LOG4OM; Log4OM said : Mode = USB (it's normal because Omnirig transmit this mode to Log4OM)
but if you do a QSO with JTDX, JTDX knows that it is in FT8 mode whatever the mode selected in the settings
when you validate the QSO you can see that the frame that will be sent to Log4OM does indeed contain FT8 mode
so Log4OM receives this frame containing the mode = FT8 and therefore Log4OM does nothing more, it records this frame with this mode
in the Log4OM input window, the mode has remained at USB but the recorded QSO is indeed recorded with the FT8 mode
Have you checked that JTDX is sending FT8 mode ?
Hope it can help you

Re: FT8 logging like USB
Really, you are all right.
I dont know why, yesterday... some QSOs recorded with USB.
I made a test today, and save like FT8.
I will be watching for all day.
