CAT Control the new Yaesu FTDX10

Post by K2DJL »

What would be the radio model to use in order to set up the new Yaesu FTDX10 for CAT control. It is not listed. Thank you. Dan K2DJL 73s

Hi Dan, it´s a brandnew rig and i don´t know you´re using Omnirig or Hamlib. But try the CAT of the FT-DX 10´s
big brother, the FT-DX 101D. Think both using the same CAT commands ....

If there are some differences it would be better to use Omnirig so the files for the different rigs are editable
with a simple software like Notepad ++ (it´s FREE). But normally i think that it works with the .ini for the
FT-DX 101D ...
73´s .. Juergen ... ALT-512 SDR (10W) , 50 m random wire at SG-211 autotuner, 2 x Xiegu G90 (20W HF TRX) one as portable Radio. Also TS-790E (40 W) for VHF/UHF with X-50 vertical and Duoband 4-Element LPDA.

If you download the latest rig list mentioned on the Hamlib topic you will find the FTDX10 is listed

I use omnirig. My Yaesu FTDX101D operates using the 991 on the omnirig drop down menu. The FTDX10 does not. Any other assistance would be appreciated. Many thanks, Dan K2DJL 73s

Dan,

The most recent OmniRig 'rig.ini' zip file does have an ini for your FTDX101D. You could update the rig.ini file on your installation and give that a try and then see if it might work for the newer FTDX10 rig.

The developer does not yet list the FTDX10 as supported, but often another one will come close to working.

Here is a link to the DX Atlas downloads page. Scroll down to OmniRig and then download the rig.ini zip file. It was updated: 2020-11-02

You could also send an e-mail to the developer of OmniRig and ask when/if he might have an ini file constructed for the FTDX10 rig.

I updated OR in with the download you've noted, however, the drop down box in OR did not update on LO4OM. When I switched to Hamlib, the FTDX10 works when the Yaesu 450 is selected. Dan K2DJL 73s

Hi Dan, if you use OR as CAT system you can only set the transceiver in OR. There is nothing in
Log4OM that will be updated except using OR or Hamlib. OR must be run in adminitrative mode
if you use it and Log4OM too. And you must set Autostart for OR (CAT) in the Log4OM setup.

Changes for different Transceivers you can do only via OR himself and if you have done so a restart
for all programs is required.

We, the team members, advocate to use OR if you neeed multithreading. That means that OR can
send CAT information to different softwares and not only to Log4OM. So if you use WSJT-X or JTDX
OR normally is a must have, Hamlib can´t handle multithreading.

I was able to properly set up my FTDX10 on omnirig utilizing the drop down for the Yaesu 991. I apparently had the com port number wrong. Thanks to everyone for your input and information. All the best 73s Dan K2DJL.

The attached OMNIRIG definition works fine, including VFOB and split.
