Windows Defender updated today (19MAY2016). Tried to install 1.25 again but got the same malware alarm for the communicator exe file.

I replaced Windows Defender with F-Secure this morning. I was able to download and install Log4OM 1.25 with no issues.

Glad you got things working. I would add that you can use Windows Defender OK if you "whitelist" this particular alert. It's easy to do, but not completely obvious how to do it. (As I recall, you tell Win. Def. to "ignore" the alert.)

I also have the same problema with Windows Defender. I set Windows Defender to allow to run Log4OM
