How can I mark QSO that counts for specific award?

Post by yt9tp »

I am looking for a way to mark QSOs that are accountable for SOTA ACTIVATION awars, SOTA CHASER awards, FF ACTIVATION awards, FF chaser awards and some local awards wso I can later slect and export those QSO info for award submissions. Is it possible with Log4OM.

All I found are preset checkboxes for DCCC and IOTA awards and those are pretty much hidden, accessible only in QSO update dialog.

There´s no application to check different awards in Log4OM. So i use the "Comment" line of the Log. If i see some WFF actication i write "WFF", if i see a lighthous activation i write "LH". So you can use many own shortcuts that allowes you to find all those specific QSO in a later search in QSO Archive section.

Would be nice if we have an internal award checker (maybe with selfdefined search strings) but for now it works ;) ;)

P.S. .... would be nice if you have a signature with your name in it. Nicer to answere with a name :)

Hi Jeurgen,
The latest ADIF 3.04 discussed elsewhere has fields for these awards and when it is implemented you will then have dedicated LOG4OM entry fields.

When these fields are implemented then they will be included in the search parameters as are the existing fields.

User defined awards is also on the new feature list for future development.

I am using comment field in similar manner but I think that is far from user frienldly solution. But it seems that is the best we have now.

G4POP, I noticed on several occasions that you refer to ADIF specification as requirement for new fields. Why do you limit Log4Om in such manner? ADIF is just another export format, I see no point limiting application functionality to such format.

Yes, and we're moving ahead from ADIF format.
But ADIF format it's an interchange format and i'm trying to let users have ALL the informations available on export.

Anyway i'm working on that, but i need some informations from awards mantainers to prepare a function to manage them, that lacks.

Incorrect! at this time ADIF is the only universal data interchange used by 98% of the ham radio software industry so to ensure compliance with the majority of available software we need to comply. We can add whatever program specific fields we like but during export and import there has to be a standard.

There are a small number of programs that use other data exchange formats like EDI that you are requesting but most also provide an ADIF export for data exchange comparability.

That said ADIF is a total mess and we are currently working towards a viable alternative but acceptance of the proposed new data exchange protocol will take a long time so meanwhile we work with what we have.

I am sure that you are aware that all software developers co-operate about data exchange protocols and the amount of work is considerable trying to satisfy the ham communities requirements.

The LOG4OM team have many years of experience in the development of ham radio software and they apply this expertise and experience to provide the user with software that satisfies the requirements of the majority of users, while also catering for minority interest where possible.

Currently we have a huge workload and are endeavouring to provide one of the best free logging programs available but we do not purport to be the top contest logger or the ultimate satellite software we leave that to the specialist software developers and integrate with them where we can.
