Omni-Rig V2 and Log4OM

Post by NJ0F »

I just installed Omni-Rig Version 2 since it has 4 radio support. I cannot seem to get 4 radio choices on the radio drop down menu in Log4OM. It only shows Rig 1 and Rig 2 but no Rig 3 and Rig 4.
Any pointers would be much appreciated.

This is on our list but may not be included until version 2.0

Hi Terry,
Hope all is well. I see this has not been included in V2. Are there still plans to incorporate a function to allow 4 rigs to be selected?

Not until the Swiss guy fixes the bugs in his version of Omnirig!

He has not replied to our emails or resolved the issues in the last 14 months so I dont see anything ever changing

Thanks for the information Terry. There are so many of us with a bunch of radios so the 4 radio support would have been great, Too bad about Omnirig. Is there another alternative out there?

I dont know of any other program that has the ability to control 4 radios, I beleive there are some expensive hardware units that provide multiple radio connections but nothing that swaps radios in a software logbook.

Swisslog have a special arrangement with the Swiss developer of Omnirig 2, not surprising? so you could use that for your multiple radio situation.

I have 4 radios that I use at the same time by starting two instances of Log4OM (One portable and one installed) but that wont work if you use the WSJT software or its derivatives for all radios due to UDP conflicts, luckily I am a phone/CW only man and dont need those programs.

You may try SDC (Software Defined Connectors) as middleware http://sdc.qrz.ru. SDC is SunSDR centric but can do the CAT-job for other rigs too.

This might work for me Terry. I am not into the digital stuff either. Do you share the same database with two instances of Log4OM or how does it work?
