ITU Zone default- Resolved

Post by VK7XX »

Not really, a bug, but just a minor 'inconvenience'... (tho I thought it should go in this area) In all versions so far, including the latest 1.11.50 when setting up Station Info, even though my call is VK7 and I have chosen IOTA OC-006 the ITU zone defaults to 55 when I am actually in 59. Yes, a very minor thing indeed, and probably quite difficult to implement, however, this maybe something that could be added to some future version..... "automatic default to correct ITU for us lazier types.

just a thought!

Because in the country file from which we determine the zone there are multiple zones for you prefix we cannot accurately determine which zone you are in so we rely on the user to check the zone. Even obtaining reliable zone data from QRZ is a problem as it is often incorrect.

Most program's require a manual input of CQ and ITU zones because of the limitations stated above and those that do it automatically often experience minor errors such as this.
