Hi All,
I have both an FTDX5000MPL and a 991A connected to Log4OM. I've just discovered when working /P with the 991A that it doesn't connect to the rig when on its own. The CAT status stays red and Log4OM won't display band/frequency. However, when both rigs are connected in the shack, I can switch between the two (Rig1 & Rig2) and all works as it should. It would appear that the 991A has never connected properly (it was purchased after the 5000) and it's the 5000 that's instigating the CAT somehow (as I have both rigs turned on at the same time. I can turn off the 5000 and the 991A keeps working ok on CAT. Strange...
On its own, I've turned on/off the 991A, the laptop and Log4OM in various combinations, but this doesn't fix the problem.
5000 = COM3, 991A=COM4 & COM5. Using OmniRig - I recall there were two 991 settings in OmniRig(?). Not at my rig at the moment and I can't recall which one I chose.
Any ideas please? Perhaps a copy of OmniRig settings for someone successfully using Log4OM with a 991A?
Thanks in anticipation!
Ian.

Re: Yaesu 991A - CAT Problem
Hi Ian,
Can you confirm you are using Omnirig, and what version?
I do remember some discussion of a similar issue with second radio not connecting unless the first radio was on.

Re: Yaesu 991A - CAT Problem
Hi Doug, Yes I am using OmniRig v1.18. However, when I went to look this up, using Task Manager I could not see OmniRig running, which is strange as I thought OmniRig is meant to automatically start. I've just been trying some tests which involve manually starting OmniRig and although this didn't work initially, somehow I have now got into a position where the 991A is working with Log4OM without the 5000 turned on. I am not sure what actions caused this, so I will undertake some re-boots/re-tests and try to pin it down....
Am I correct in thiking OmniRig should be running automatically? I'll also try the 5000 on its own to see whether I can spot OmniRig running....
Thanks!
Ian.

Re: Yaesu 991A - CAT Problem
Hello Ian,
did you check the boxes for Omnirig and "open CAT on program start" in the Settings/Options ?

73´s .. Juergen ... ALT-512 SDR (10W) , 50 m random wire at SG-211 autotuner, 2 x Xiegu G90 (20W HF TRX) one as portable Radio. Also TS-790E (40 W) for VHF/UHF with X-50 vertical and Duoband 4-Element LPDA.
Re: Yaesu 991A - CAT Problem
Did some more tests. The fluke previously must have been a previous powering up of the 5000 earlier in the afternoon.
Yes, both OmniRig selected for CAT Software in Log4OM as is check-box for open CAT on program start.
A full reboot of everything with just the laptop and 991A turned on - I can see OmniRig start on Task Manager when I start Log4OM. I can see OmniRig settings within Log4OM using the CAT Connection icon on the task bar. Toggling between Rig 1 & 2 on the task bar has no effect. No frequency is shown and the CAT status icon at the bottom of the screen remains red.
Turning on the 5000 instantly brings CAT to life in Log4OM and both Rigs communicate correctly.
Turning off the 5000, leaves the 991A working CAT fine...
OmniRig is still running in Task Manager.
Hope this helps.
Thanks.
Ian.

Re: Yaesu 991A - CAT Problem
ps. Using Log4OM v1.35.0.0
Re: Yaesu 991A - CAT Problem
I took the polling interval down to as low as it would allow, which is 100ms. Made no difference...
Thanks.

Re: Yaesu 991A - CAT Problem
I've just selected the other 991A option in OmniRig which is FT-991-DATA.....first impressions seem to be it's working.....will try some more tests....
