I agree because "requested" is grammatically past tenseK7PT wrote:Dave asked what this means:

This means I asked the other guy for a confirmation card,

Ok, but how is that different from "Y", in that I sent a QSL card; UNLESS, it implies that I requested a QSL card from him, but did not send him one of my own...like with some of the online QSL request services?

I have had QSO's where the other station no longer collected cards but was OK for me to request one.k3dcw wrote:K7PT wrote:Dave asked what this means:

There is also a situation where you send the card but one is not received so you might request it again by email or post etc

Re: LOTW select issue 1.16.0.0
I've been following this thread with interest, because I have been very confused by the terminology in use within Log4OM and the ADIF format, as a new user.
There seems to be the most confusion with the term Requested for Sent QSL's. I think the confusion arises, in part, because there are "Requested" status for both Sent and Received QSL's, and people get confused between the two. I know I did. When I see "requested" I think I "requested" a qsl from the contact.
Further confusion is caused because we are using the past tense "Requested" for a term we are applying to the present tense - that the contact is "Requesting" a QSL confirmation.
Might this all be clarified (made simpler) by changing the term for "Sent" (better yet OUTGOING) QSL's to "Requesting".
Then change the term Sent - which implies they have been SENT (again, past tense, as if they have already been SENT), to "Outgoing", and the term "Received" to "Incoming". Would be a lot more consistent with the English language and would reduce the confusion.
Just my thoughts.
