KML/Google Earth

Post by kk6ubp »

Ive installed Google Earth, and attempted a 'generate kml' i tried multiple times, the latest being with a single entry, in the 'real time log' i get the error message " Executing FAILED! File not found "
Winddows 8.1, all updates
Log4OM version 1.22.0.0
Fresh install of Google Earth

any ideas?

Strange! it works OK here

How many grid digits were you using

Where are you doing this from utilities or QSO Manager

i tried using
QSO Manager > QSO Archive > search, (select all or single) > plot KML > choose any of 2/4/6/8/10 digit > click Generate KML, it shows working, and in the 'realtime log' eventually shows that error

all were imported, if that might matter

thanks for pointing that out, Google Earth, updated OP

I made a manual entry, and tried to do the kml, still get the same error, i also did a 'run program as Admin' with no luck
any other ideas?

from looking around, i've found the file 'should' be being created in
"C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\LogOM" TEMP folder, is this the correct location?

is there an option somewhere i can get better logging, maybe i can see, before the failure.

oh, i tried via the utilities menu as well

Generate a support request as detailed here http://www.log4om.com/log4om-support/

Make sure that you generate a kml after setting debug to 'Trace' and before generating the support request

Then email it either to me or Daniele

I suppose that your imported QSO's do actually have a QRA locator in the 'Grid reference' field?

We have not received a support request from you!, did you identify the issue or are you still in need of assistance?

I justed wanted say how impressed I am with the Plot KML routine.
I have been using GE to see where my local Trig points are located, etc. and this works well. :)
Having spoken to Log4OM developer Terry on another matter, I decided to RTFM and use GE to identify all of my contacts on 6m band (using the band filter button in QSO Archive Utility).
It's brilliant to see (for the first time) the OS/WAB Grid squares, and the Maidenhead grid squares (of the 6m contacts) overlayed. It's now easy to check (validate that information) between MGRs and WAB squares. Great performance, and support, as I have can to expect from Log4OM. :D

We are pleased you like this feature, just wait until we add the IOTA mapping facility!

I hasten to add that I was not rude enough to say to Bob RTFM it was his decission :D

Bob,

I've never used Google Earth before but it sounds interesting in what you have achieved. I've had a quick look at the Log4om Manual and will also download Google Earth. Where do I obtain the overlays for the Maidenhead and WAB Grids?
