DX Alerts and out of band

Post by G3ZSS »

I have set up DX Alerts to my phone for new DXCCs on 160m. However, I am getting many alerts due to stations being outside the IARU Region 1 bandplan. For example any W or VE operating between 1.800 and 1.810 is generating an alert, even though I do not need them! The only setting I can find in the options menu comes under Station Info where I have it set the Region 1. Is there any other setting I am missing? Peter G3ZSS

Hi Peter,

You might want to look at CC User application by VE7CC. It integrates well with Log4Om and allows very fine filtering by spotter, by country, by band, etc. And it includes audio and email alerts. Setup of CC User is described on page 173 of the Log4Om user's manual.

Doug, I already use the VE7CC cluster app. I had a look at the CCC filter commands but they are band based and if I want 160m CW it filters from 1.800 to 1.850 MHz or 1.800 to 2.000 for the full band. I want to stop any alarms for spots between 1.800 to 1.810 MHz. In Log4OM settings we can set the bandplan to IARU Region 1 which means that 160m starts at 1.810 MHz, but any spot below 1.810 MHz is generating alarms. So in the CQWW160 contest last weekend I was receiving almost continuous alarms from W/VE stations operating below 1.810 MHz.

Peter,

Ok, I understand now. I know of no sub-band filtering in CC User. However, do you need any spots from W or VE stations? Why not filter out all W/VE spots in CC User, by unchecking the K and VE from Pass Spotter Cty? Or conversely set a Reject Spotter Cty for K and VE?

The same issue applies to getting alerts from North American stations (IARU Region 2) operating above 7.200 MHz.
