LOG4OM Ft847 and double VFO

Post by IK7HTB »

Hi everybody,
i have an issue using my ft847 and LOG4OM. I use this RTX for sat QSO's so i open PSTROTATOR with Omnirig and everythings works fine. If i open LOG4OM i see on the top, in the right corner, the two VFO frequencies but TX and RX are inverted!

Image

Any help will be appreciated ;)

RX and TX is provided by Omnirig through a parameter that says what is the actual configuration

Configuration may be
VFO_UNKNOWN
VFO_A
VFO_B
VFO_AB
VFO_BA

Based on that log4om is able to determine what kind of radio structure you have (single or double VFO) and getting the right RX and TX frequencies, assigning VFO to the right one.
Using those data and comparison between values it's also able to detect split mode, if the flag is provided

You need to enable LOG TRACE MODE and check what the software is logging in his internal log. This is something like

"radioInfo.VfoA > 0 && radioInfo.VfoB > 0 A:" + Rig1.FreqA + " " + Rig1.Split + " RX:" + radioInfo.RxVfo + " TX:" + radioInfo.TxVfo

Based on those info i can help you checking if the INI file is correctly set or is malformed.

Do you have downloaded the latest .ini definitions from OMNIRIG website?

Hi Daniele,
thank's for your quick replay!
I' using the .ini for the FT847 included by Codrut in PSTROTATOR installation directory. In PSTRotator the RX & TX frequencies are showed right (as you can see in the picture above). I have an inversion in LOG4OM.
This is a part of the log :

Hi Daniele,
this is the FT847pst.ini file that works fine with the rig and pstrotator (the original of omnirig is not good for sat operation).

Issue stays somewhere in this file.
Is the original INI file reporting correct frequencies, despite "it's not good for sat mode"?
If yes, you have something inverted in the readings

Hi Daniele, thank's for your reply.
This is the log with the original Omnirig ft847.ini and in log4om i haven't the second VFO (in the radio i have VFO A 145.... RX - VFO B 435.... TX) :

2018-07-06 08:35:00.1236 DEBUG: TCPServer: TCP MESSAGE OUT: RigStatusMessage CAT CATCONNECTED B:True D:0 S: ---

I'll investigate looking for the difference beetwen the two .ini files.
Anyway any suggest will be appreciated ;)

So the original INI file is supporting only a single VFO, while the updated one seems working with both.

At this point there could be a flaw in the ini file (but it works with other software, so probably it's a misconfiguration somewhere)

I'll check your detailed log as soon as i can but will take a lot of time to be done without having the rig and debugger connected.

Hi Daniele,
i think i found the solution! :)
I have trying to modify the ini file with no success. Than using the ini file of PSTRotator i found out the two button in PSTRotator, not well explained into the manual, labeled TX and RX. When i click on TX button nothing happens in PSTROTATOR but the situation TX & RX in LOG4OM is reversed! Just what i needed ;)

Glad to see you have found a solution :)
This is how messages are handled through Omnirig... i believe Codrut was aware of this issue or allowed users to make those changes to add flexibility...

Hello
Actually this doesn't solve the main problem.
Indeed it is not a correct solution at all.
Clicking TX puts the radio on TX mode...(same as you press PTT) and meanwhile Log4OM shows the correct order of RX and TX frequencies.

So, with this solution you "have to" add the qso while pressing the PTT (or TX button) to record correct TX frequency of the radio.
Otherwise you add the qso with RX frequency.

And the problem i mentioned on another post still continues..
If you put radio on Sat mode, Log4OM starts to read split mode frequencies as shown in this viewtopic.php?f=6&t=3580&p=20076#p20076 topic..
And if you turn off sat mode, display never returns back to single VFO mode..

Adding omnirig log also..
WHich simulates. opening log4om on vfo mode..
switching to sat mode..
pressing ptt for a few times..
then switching back to vfo mode.
