Hello OM,

what do you mean ? Logging contests is working fine if you use the contest facility of Log4OM
but Log4OM can´t handle special contest formats yet (like Cabrillo or STF).

If i work in a contest i do it with a special contest logger and i only import ADIF from this
Software to Log4OM. Log4OM is my main logger but not my contest logger (yet).

;) ;)

If there is no one for the contest facility Terry hasn´t made one yet. ;) ;)

You must appreciate that contest exchanges vary with different contest rules.

1. Some require the exchange of an incremented serial number only like 001, 002, 003 etc
2. Others require just a fixed string which could be your IOTA or SOTA reference, your age, date first licenced or hat size :D
3. Then many require an incremented serial number plus a fixed string

In the case of the IOTA contest that you emailed me about some time ago I think I explained that you had entered the information incorrectly?

The EU-HF contest required:
"RS(T) report plus a two digit number, meaning the last two digits of the year of operator’s first ever official amateur radio license(i.e. 59(9) 82 means that operator received his/her first ever official amateur radio license in the year 1982)."

The images that you sent me indicate that you have used the 'Auto Generate' fields instead of the 'Fixed string' field and that you were entering the RST sent in the sent exchange together with 17 and the RST received exchange together with the other operators date first licenced in the contest received fields, that was your problem!

The RST sent and received are those in the sent/Rcvd fields directly below the other operators name on the extreme left of the window, you dont need to add them into the contest exchange fields.

All that goes in the CONTEST sent/received fields is the actual exchange like serial number and any other string like Age, date first licenced etc so in the case of the EU-HF contest you would use the 'Fixed String' field to add 17 to the sent field for every QSO and you woud have entered the information received from the other person just 81 or 49 whatever year he gave you.

Not as you entered 59 17 in the contest sent field and 59 64 in the contest received field - The RST is already recorded in the RST sent/Rcvd fields.

See the two different examples below, one with just the fixed string required for the EU-HF contest and the bottom one for an imaginary contest that required an incremented serial number plus a suffix - Note: one used 'Fixed string and the other an 'Auto generated' serial number plus a fixed suffix

Had you entered the data in that manner then the ADIF 3.>>> file that you saved would be as shown below

I hope that this makes the use of the Log4OM contest facility a little more understandable?

I am not a contester but many of my friends tend to use N1MM contest logging for their contest because it provides everything required including working out multipliers and exporting Cabrillo files, they then export the N1MM ADI log into Log4OM remembering of course to check the update countries box on import because that information is not provided by N1MM.
