Troubles with communication with PSTRotator

Post by oe3ide »

Hello,

since a couple of weeks (I don't know the exact date) I have some troubles with the communication Log4OM => PSTRotator AZ.

Setup seems to be correct and after a fresh Log4OM start, all works as expected. After a couple of minutes, a click on the heading in Log4OM, does not "reach" the PSTRotator.

Log:

Code: Select all

2018-09-26 18:50:29.8195 INFO: Log4OMMainWindow: Sending rotator azimuth message to communicator
2018-09-26 18:50:33.2418 INFO: Log4OMMainWindow: Sending rotator azimuth message to communicator
If I restart PSTRotator, the problem is still there. If I close the Communicator, goto Options/Services and stopp all comm-services and restart it, it works normal...for another couple of minutes. I think ~10min +/- seems to be the critical runtime.

PSTRotator AZ V 13.16
Log4OM 1.33.1.0
OS Windows 10
Both software running on the same machine

Any ideas?

Hi Ernst,

always the same questions ... did you have installed Log4OM to run with administrator privileges ?
Maybe also PST ? Some connections need this. I can´t test so i have no rotator control running.

;) ;)

Hello,

yes. Log4OM, OmniRig and PSTRotatorAZ are installed as Administrator. Also all 3 programms are started with Administrator-Privileges.

Maybe I will take a deeper look with a sniffer.

Ok, checked now the communication with wireshark. After a fresh start of Log4OM & PSTRotator all works good. Localhost broadcasts the Azimuth to port 12040. PSTRotator receives the udp-packet. In the Log4OM log I see the information: Log4OMMainWindow: Sending rotator azimuth message to communicator

After ~10-20 minutes there is no broadcast to 255.255.255.255:12040 .. nothing.. also no other destination ip with port 12040.
But the Log4OM log says "Log4OMMainWindow: Sending rotator azimuth message to communicator " .. but nothing happens udp wise.

If I close the communicator, stop the service via settings and restart it, it works again....
