New Database

Post by PC_Confused »

I'm trying to learn how to use the Log4OM program, but I've already hit a snag. Every time I logon, I have to create a new Database even though I can see the .SQLite SQLITE file and the LOG4OM text document, in my root directory. Once I create another new database, I again have to import all 500 of my contacts. Once I can see my contacts in the Recent QSO's, and I type an existing call sign in the Call sign block, the program does not show I've worked that person nor does that person's information show up under the QSO information tab? Almost like the program isn't reading the call sign information that is in the Recent QSO section.
What am I missing or doing wrong? I've gone through the Settings > options tabs several times, to see if the information is complete, and as far as I can see the information is complete, but I'm still having problems.

First question is why have you created the database in your "Root" directory and not your document folder or Google Drive/Dropbox folder?

Dis you install Log4OM to 'Run as an administrator' as instructed on page 1 of our quick start guide and page 9 of the user guide and in our 'Getting started' YouTube tutorial?

Sorry G4POP, I guess I misreported that. I'm using Windows 10 Home and I should have said the Database in on the desktop not the root directory. That is where the program saved the .SQLite and LOG4OM test files, I think.

So:

"Did you install Log4OM to 'Run as an administrator' as instructed on page 1 of our quick start guide and page 9 of the user guide and in our 'Getting started' YouTube tutorial?"

G4POP, I thank you for your answers and suggestions. I guess the best thing for me to do is just uninstall the program and find another logging program.

That of course is your choice but you should be able to recover the existing file or restore the backup that you should have been saving.

I have to ask these questions so that we start from a base knowledge of the important things before exploring other possibilities..

I dont know where your located because we dont know your call sign but if we did we could arrange for a teamviewer session to fix the issue for you.

Anyway if you decide not too give up on Log4OM let us know and we will continue to try and help providing you are happy to answer our questions.
