Icom IC 7300 now goes into RTTY-D on FT8?

Post by GW0ANA »

Hello again, I have no more hair to pull out with frustration regarding Log4OM 2 & WSJT-x Program. I have at last got both programs to load & run together.
Following advice from forum I run all programs with full Admin Authority.
This gets the programs to start up and actually run together.
But now another problem has happened when transmitting WSJT-X in FT8 Mode.
The ICOM IC 7300 goes into RTTY-D mode when its set to USB-D for FT8.
The log4om 2 window states that it has switched to 20m USB see Jpeg. & not FT8 USB.

So now the only way I can use LOG4OM 2 is to run WSJT-X as a stand alone program, then upload this log at the end of days QSO`s working into LOG4OM2 this then gives me my FT8 logs in LOG4OM V2 program.
It has beaten me totaly why I cannot run them together like they once did in version 1 of log4om.
I appreciate the help you guys are giving me but it seems I get over one problem and another gremlin appears. Hi But if I keep at it betreen us I am sure one day Log4OM 2 & WSJT-x Program will run perfectly with my IC7300 as loads of radio hams run theirs OK but mine will not. Maybe its the computer.

Any further help very much appreciated as I am down & out 73

I successfully run my IC7300 with WSJT set up exactly as in our user guide and it all works 100%

Note: Before you start download the LATEST Log4OM user guide

1. You MUST use Omnirig and select the IC7300 DATA profile
2. Log4OM, Omnirig and WSJT must all be 'RUN AS AN ADMINISTRATOR'
3. In Log4OM/settings/Program configuration/CAT Interface select 'Invert SSB side (Digital)
4. In Log4OM/settings/Program configuration/CAT Interface select 'Switch to digital mode when required' - Also SELECT FT8 from the drop down menu.
5. In WSJT File/Settings/Radio select the correct Omnirig Rig (NOT THE IC7300), select CAT as PTT method, DATA/PKT as Mode and FAKE IT as 'Split operation'
6. Ensure that all other Log4OM and WSJT UDP settings correspond EXACTLY to the Log4OM user guide

BTW in the ADIF mode specification, which is what we conform with! There is not a USB-D or LSB-D or SSB-D mode

Hello Terry,
I thank you again for your kind advice regarding the problems I am having trying to interface Log4OM2 with my IC 7300 & FT8.
Following your advice & re-reading of the superb help manual I have arrived at an en-pass.
I can run Log4OM2 on its own and add my FT8 Logs post operating which is a bit of a chore by copying the FT8 ADIF file & importing it into Log4OM2. It will not do it during operations.

I can run FT8 on its own with no problems but to get it talking to Log4OM2 is slowly driving me mad hi.
When it does talk LOG4OM & go to transmit the Icom IC 7300 displays RTTY- D not USB-D. It also shows on the Log4OM 2 screen the correct band but not mode, it shows USB.
Following your last email I have set both Log4OM2 & FT8 program as you suggested see screen shots.
I have the latest Icom updates & Log4OM 2 updates & windows 7 updates all installed.
But I am sorry to say it has beaten me. The log4om version 1 worked wonderful all integration between Rig & software flowed flawlessly. I bet its a unticked box & pilot error but this pilot hass crashed hi.

If you can find time in your very busy day to suggest what I can do do get it up & running or if anyone else in the forum it would be most appreciated. I thank you for your past kindness & time spent with my problem.

Terry, above you say 'Log4OM, Omnirig and WSJT must all be 'RUN AS AN ADMINISTRATOR'
The very first thing that other official program support suggest is to NOT run anything as admin.
Everything seems to be working here FB without anything running as admin.
