sunset and sunrise dx info

Post by ik2egl »

first of all tnx to Daniele for the new 1.17 release (the easter release!)

I like it so much and I think it is really a heavy step forward for log4om

I am continuing to use log4om and I would like to give a suggestion in the extended info

can we have the sunrise sunset infomation in the Extended info tab ?

something like below

doing dxing on low band I always look at this info.

I don't believe we have enough space in any of the QSO tabs for this Don, but Daniele will advise on that!

Personally I would rather see propagation information like SFI, A & K indexes with warnings of solar events because that is of interest to the vast majority of our users.

Hi Terry
info on propagation is really nice to have too, I agree with you, but could open a larger mantis

I mean propagation charts, MUF like dx Atlas and so on. :D

let me add to my post the the argument.

An important feature of log4om is the integration via UDP, which permits an easy and solid integration with all sw that expose a UDB port

we could identify among the propagation available a software which has this characteristic /UDP) and try to integrate it with log4om

any comment on that ? anyone know a sw like that ?

find sometime suitable and we can work on.
As an alternative try finding a source for the requested informations and i will add them (not a webpage with tons of informations, something dedicated that i cannot find until now) :)

Ciao Daniele
let me give you some info collected browsing in these days

1) I have found this site which has some information on sunrise, sunset, D and F layer and give 1 year data download
http://lipas.uwasa.fi/~jpe/sun.shtml

2) a full comprehensive propagation software widely used in HAM (we know!) is hamcap which exposes com/ole integration and requires a sw integration (not UDP unfortunately)
http://www.dxatlas.com/HamCap/

3) a very large site which covers quite all is but need more time to be investigated for our purpose is
http://www.voacap.com/

have a look and let me know :)

Yep, i know those sites.
The only suitable one is the first one, that requires a parsing of the string (it's possible, require some time).
Also countries are identified by prefixes, that will add some more work...

voacap is completely another thing :)
