I'm moving to a Windows 11 computer, and setting up Log4OM has gone mostly OK. One problem I'm seeing is that when I try to select a backup folder for the log, the window presented shows the Desktop folder only and does not navigate anywhere from there. On the Win 10 machine it works as expected, allowing navigation, folder creation, etc. Am I doing something wrong?

Some folders are protected in Win 11 that were not in Win 10
Have you tried saving to drop box or Google drive, not one drive as that seems protected

Re: Win11 Backup Folder selection seems broken
Thanks, Terry, but no, I'm sending the backup to a Seagate 8 TB USB backup drive where I put all my backups. On my system, when I open the dialog box for where to place it, I am only presented with the "Desktop" folder - so I'm stuck putting it there or adding a folder "under" the desktop. I can't navigate from there to anywhere else on the computer.

Have you tried re-starting log4om?

Yes, many restarts, no help. 2.25.0.0 Can't install 2.26 for some reason. Won't run the install file even with all antivirus software turned off. Windows 11, of course....

Re: Win11 Backup Folder selection seems broken
This problem has not gone away and now I have zipped backups scattered in the icons on my desktop. Below is a screenshot of what I'm presented when I attempt to navigate to a suitable backup folder. The only choice I'm given is something under "Desktop" which is not a good choice. Regardless of how I try to enter my external drive or one of the alternate drives on my system, it only allows the Desktop as the choice (or whatever folder I created under it.) What am I missing?

What happens if you click on the folder icon to the left of the red Cross alongside the file path

Hi Terry,
I receive the window below - which only allows me to create folders under the "Desktop" (i.e., on the Desktop). I get the same result below if I turn off the main backup function and enable "additional backups."

Re: Win11 Backup Folder selection seems broken
Duane,
Does your new W-11 installation have a default folder called: Documents
The one where you then create any myriad of folders for files you save from various APPs like Excel, Word, etc., etc.?
My wife's new laptop (now a year old) has W-11 Pro and it created as a default the "Documents" folder that I have on my W-10 Pro laptops.
I would expect your installation to have done the same.
Your situation is somewhat puzzling for sure.

Re: Win11 Backup Folder selection seems broken
Hi Nolan,
Yes, it has all the standard folders similar to Win10 with the exception that it insisted on loading all on OneDrive. That shouldn't matter because there is still the duplicate folder on the system, and I have changed mine to default to the system drive with backup to the OneDrive. Still I don't understand why in Log4OM it's pegged onto "Desktop" and, other than being able to create a subfolder there, doesn't allow any other navigation to other system locations. It almost looks hardcoded, but it can't be because no one else seems to have the problem. I think for the mean time I'm going to create a desktop subfolder for log backups so I don't seem them all over the desktop. It's not a huge deal, but not optimum for log backups.
