Log4OM 2.27.0 won't install - Windows 11

Post by ac5aa »

I'm still stuck at 2.25 because 2.26 and 2.27 both fail to install on my new Dell XPS-8950 Windows 11 system. What happens is that when I execute the installer ("D:\Log4OM\Log4OM2_2_27_1_0.exe") the hourglass displays for about 2 seconds and then nothing. Task Manager shows no "Log4OM" tasks running, no messages are displayed. I have turned off, and even uninstalled Norton Security suite to no effect. I'm clueless what could be causing this. Any ideas of what to look for would be greatly appreciated. At least I know that 2.25 installed with no problems - but nothing since.

Answering my own question. I worked this one with MS help and discovered that if I viewed the properties of the install file, there is now a "box" titled "Unblock" under the security section. If you have this problem, then:
1. Right-click the file and select "Properties"
2. On the General tab, look at the bottom (see below) and be sure the "Unblock" box is checked, then apply the change.

Duane,

Congratulations for your perseverance. I'll have to look at my wife's laptop as she has W-11 Pro on it, but have not had a similar experience with it over the past year.

I know W-11 has changed up many things and added new hoops to jump through and your experience is a new one to recall for future help for sure.

I just "rediscovered" this problem and had to go dig through old forum entries to find how I solved it last time. Is there something that can be done at the code generation stage that would prevent this or am I just going to have to dig it out of the forum every time? (ha, ha - memory isn't what it used to be!)
