How to prevent mode changes when changing frequency?

Post by DO9KW »

Hello,

I have a simple question I guess.
Normally I am operating in FT8 and when I change to SSB the mode also changes in Log4OM but when I
dial the VFO knob and change the frequency the mode got resetted to FT8.
How can I prevent this behaviour so that the mode stays in the selected mode until I switch back to FT8 ?
I also have the problem that sometimes I have to change the RX report from the FT8 dB value to S-Value

Attached you can find a screenshot of my settings and the raport "problem".

thanks and 73s

Dont forger your FT software also controls the mode selected in Log4OM so if its still running when you decide to have a QSO on phone or indeed CW its still trying to control the radio and Log4OM

I ran a test without WSJT-X running. I tested with the rig in USB and then CW. In both cases, when I got within about 500 Hz of the FT8 frequency, 24,915 in this case, Log4OM switched to FT8 mode. In Configuration/CAT Management, I do NOT have "Switch to DIGITAL mode when required" checked. In my case, I would never be operating SSB on that frequency, and it is very unlikely that i would be using CW there, Just thought I would let you know.

Win4Yaesu stays in the mode set by the rig, so that shouldn't be the problem.
