Two questions:

What is being backed up? and how do I restore whatever it is that I've backed up?

1. Log4OM backups save all of the users configuration files and an ADIF file of the users logbook which contains all of his QSO's

2. In the event of a restore being required the user just copies the backed up configuration files into the C:\Users\YOUR USER NAME\AppData\Roaming\LogOM folder and then imports the ADIF file of the logged QSO's into Log4Om using the File/Import ADIF facility.

TIP.

I save my backups, and my Logbook.SQLite file on the cloud (Dropbox, Google drive etc) so that even in the event of a complete hard drive failure I can still retrieve the data using another computer or the internet.

This is covered in the user guide.

Checked the user manual but can't find a reference to "Depth" as part of the backup process. It's set to 6 as default I guess, but can you explain what it means please?

Depth means it will save 'n' number of backups, in your example 6 then the 7th time it backs up the oldest stored backup is deleted.

I recommend you set the 1st backup level to 10 and also use a secondary backup location with no delete

Brown,

Please include your callsign in your post. Better yet, use your callsign as your login name. Then we can better help you by knowing which country you live in.

What error are you referring to? You say you have lost your data - your log?

Also tell us what version of Log4OM you are using.
