Fldigi, FSK ...Your comments please.

Hi,

Sorry if I am a bit off topic, but I would be pleased to know your experience with FLdigi and RTTY mode.
Have you tested Pseudo FSK in RTTY or pseudo CW?
Do you found any advantage to use Pseudo FSK instead of AFSK?
I have used MixW for long time because it is possible to use FSK and than I can use RTTy filters on the transceiver.
On receiving, FLdigi seems works better (less errors) than MixW .
The reason I asking it here, is because with Log4OM I am thinking to adopt FLdigi, but I am in doubt because FLdigi does not has FSK or even "real" CW .
Your comments would help a lot.
Best regards to all.

Manuel,
I use MixW for FSK and ultimately we will integrate with that program.

MixW has the advantage that it can use Omnirig at the same time as Log4om so the full use of the Log4om cluster is available together with rotator control.

For CW the best program is MRP40 it is without doubt the best decoder and sends proper CW not MCW

We will be adding Winkeyer support within Log4om and Daniele now has a Winkeyer USB to help him with the programming.

Hi Art,
It seems that Norbert has closed his site and made the software available through Softpedia.

You can download it from http://www.softpedia.com/get/Others/Hom ... oder.shtml

Last week the MRP40 page was online - I downloaded mrp40 from there. But I played a little bit with this program and ... its good but ... my ears are better :) and the best decoding is done from CW Skimmer software. HRD have a nice decoding software included which is ok for ragchewing.
FSK is a really must in my opinion and the new 2tone software for RTTY have added pseudo FSK and 2tone should be better as mmtty or mmvari for decoding (I did not try it for I switched to the microkeyer usb) One more very easy and upcoming RTTY/PSK program is just in development and called AirExpress - nice userinterface and makes fun.

Hi Peter,
I agree there is nothing better than the human ear for decoding morse but as an assistant for those with defective hearing and those learning morse MRP40 and the other program's are invaluable.

I have been using CW for many years but now in my 73rd year I have lost 60% of my hearing and wear two aids, although with strong signals I am still OK up to about 30 WPM I realy struggle with the weak ones in bad QRM and MRP helps me check that I have understood the message.

Yesterday I sent an email to Alex of Airlink Express to find out if we can integrate via TCP or UDP and he responded today. Unfortunately he does not provide this facility so until he does we cannot do much!
