Cannot get Frequency to display on log4OM2

Post by vk3jls »

Looking for assistance here.
I have read the previous posts around this topic, however they have not aided me in overcoming my problem.

I have recently installed Log4OM2, and am using OmniRig to connect to my FTDX3000.
The install went fine, however I am getting the "green" CAT light showing, but there is no frequency display.
  • I'm running Windows 10;
    the most recent .ini file for the DX3000 is on my pc;
    I have checked which COM Port is in use (COM10);
    I am using a RS232 to USB cable for interconnection;
    Device Manager states; USB Serial Port, "this device is working properly";
    I have matched all settings between COM port and Log4OM2 and FTDX3000;
    I have done multiple restarts after making changes.
Green light CAT is on, but no Frequency is displayed.

What am I missing???

Thanks in advance

John

Baud rate mismatch perhaps?

Nope, Baud Rate is matched in all 3 places. I have tried different rates, currently all set at 9600.

Any other radio software running?

Have you tested with anti-virus and firewalls turned off?

What are you using Hamlib or Omnirig? (Omnirig is ALWAYS my first choice)

No other radio software is running.
I have turned virus protection and firewall protection off, and still no go.
I am using OmniRig.

Thanks for the suggestions, but still no success so far.

Has the radio and interface cable ever worked with any other cat control software?

Have you tried a factory reset of the radio?

I have a friend using the 3000 with Omnirig so I know the software is OK so it must be something simple

Thanks again Terry for trying to help here.
I had previously used CAT control with HRD and virtual com ports, so no, have not used this cable before. I purchased it specifically for this connection, as for me, Log4OM had some advantages over HRD.
I'm not sure a factory reset of the 3000 is warranted. I have downloaded and started from scratch on a different Windows10 pc, and with a different rig (450D) but still have the same problem. I have tried various matched baud rates with no success.
The interface cable I purchased is a "Cable Creation" USB to RS232 Serial Adapter (FTDI Chip) cable.
As the cable is the only common link between the different setups, that looks to be the culprit, (although Device Manager states the device is working correctly when it is connected).
Are there any suggestions for a specific cable type and manufacturer that I could try??

You refer to using HRD with a VSP was that through the same cable or does the 3000 have a USB connection also?

The 3000 has 2 cat connections; RS232 and USB.
No, it was not the same cable.

I expect there is a rig menu setting incorrect but why not use the USB connection with log4om and omnirig
