ic-7300 CAT issue?

Post by 6k5zmn »

Hello, I am using the ic-7300.

I succeeded in connecting to CAT from log4om. But press PTT, the connection is disconnected.

I checked the Windows Device Manager menu and the usb driver itself is not recognized. So if you remove the usb line from the laptop and plug it back in, the CAT will be connected again. And the connection-disconnect again again...

The setting of the omnirig and the radio is set in the same way by referring to various articles. When wstx-j sends ft8, the PC-radio period sink is not cut off.

I ran log4om and omnirig in admin mode, and I set the speed from 4800 to the maximum speed (now 19200), so I don't know what the reason is. Please help.

※ I'm not good at English. Please understand if the sentence is weird. Thank you.

You MUST use the ICOM usb driver as instructed in the 7300 user guide

Also use Omnirig from Afreet, not Hamlib

Has to be baud rate r com port mismatch unless you have some other software interfering?

Are you using the Omnirig 7300 DATA ini file?

It's a while since this enquiry but one idea is RF getting into the PC down the USB cable and resetting the USB port. I've had this myself.

The usual things that reduce RF should help, Common mode chokes on the antenna feeder, keeping the feeder away from the USB cable, good quality feeder.

Also use a high quality SHIELDED USB cable and wrap it through a ferrite toroid, 6 or 8 turns if you can.

Hope this helps,
