VarAC Integration

VarAC Integration with Log4OM

The developer of VarAC, Irad 4Z1AC, has worked with us to provide direct automatic logging, call lookup and worked before status view in Log4OM, this works in a similar manner to integration with WSJT.

While I don’t use WSJT, because I find it too impersonal and production line like, I do admire the weak signal capabilities of Joe Taylors work.

Vara on the other hand does allow operators to hold a full QSO and converse via the keyboard, very much like a weak signal version of PSK or RTTY. I recently had a Vara QSO with a station in New Zealand which lasted 45 minutes even though signal reports were averaging -18 both ways.

VarAC is free but I invested in the subscription to avoid the nag screens etc and I think it was money well spent as its added another tool to my radio tool box which together with my CW operating overcomes my impaired hearing difficulties with SSB.

Irad has provided full details of how to integrate Log4OM here https://www.varac-hamradio.com/forum/ma ... ewer-41me7

See the VarAC website for full details about the capabilities of VarAC and download links for the software. See https://www.varac-hamradio.com/

The latest release V9.1.0 also provides extensive EmComm support so should be of great use to amateur radio emergency services World Wide.
