CPU usage after starting Log4OM2

Post by sq9jxb »

Hello

CPU usage after running Log4OM ranges from 5 to 21% after moving and then stays at 45-50%, CAT off, I do nothing with the program.

OK, enough error information for now. :)
Others probably also have mistakes.

Greetings from Poland

There are a couple of activities made by Log4OM in the background, without affecting the user interface.
One of them, as example, is calculation of VOACAP data for each 4 digit gridsquare of the world starting from your locator. Those data will be refreshed hourly and are used by cluster screen, heavy in calculations.
There is a screen that shows what is happening in background, in the diagnostic page (the last error is also reported here, if any)

Please note errors are NOT necessarily real errors. They could be raised by a moltitude of situations, even normal. We log everything because can be helpful for further debug in case of issues.

Make certain that 'Trace mode' is not turned on in config, should just be 'Info'

When I switch to TX I find that cpu usage for log4om jumps up to over 75% and slowly falls down during the 15 second FT8 tx period,

Seems ok on RX

Settings/Program Configuration/Program settings - 5th item down 'Default log level' should normally be set to 'Info'
