Post by LA7XK »

I do have problems with CAT contol on IC-9700
In regular radio mode (Not Sat mode) i can set up CAT.
and the VFO frequencies are displayed.
However CAT goes Offline after about 6 sec.
If I turn the tuning knob on the radio the Frequency is again
displayed in LOG4OM. but disapears again after abt. 6 sec.
When I am Offline and key the radio the OnAir lights up
and the frequency is displayd for abt 6 sec. The same happen
every time I chane some setting on the radio

When I set the radio to SAT mode, LOG4OM behaves the same way but
the dispayd frequencies are notSat up and downlink frequencies on the
radio display but the last setting for VFO A and B.

The behavour is affected by the Poll Int and the Timeout setting in the CAT setup menu,

Is there a solution out there somewhere??

Halvard,

Couple question here to help us better help you.

What version of Log4OM2 are you using? It is visible in top left banner bar of Log4OM2.

Which CAT engine have your selected to use with your Icom?

There are three different Omnirig ini files in their latest download, have you tried all three?

Are you running Omnirig as an administrator as well as Log4OM and any other programs connecting to Omnirig?

What other programs are running and connecting to the 9700?

Terry

Last first, No other programs are connecting to IC-9700CAT
I am using the IC-9700 CI/V interface located at COM4 here.
IC-9700 also has a CAT COM (COM10 here) via USB No programs are
Using that port while I see the failure..

I have used DxBase logger connected to IC-9700 via COM4 (CI/V) and
Sat32PC sat tracker via COM10 and the Uplink frequency is displayed
in DxBase as it should.

There are several settings among the MENU/CONNECTORS settings in
IC-9700. I will make a list of these settings and send them.
Give me a few minutes.

I am running Omnirig and LOG4OM as Administrator.

Where do I find the Omnirig .ini files and how do I determine
witch one I am using?

This is the radio setup.
MENU/SET/CONNECTORS/CI-V
CI-V Baud = 19200 (COM 4)
CI-V Address = A2h
CI-V Transeive = ON
CI-V USB port = Unlink from Remote
CI-V USB Baude = 57600 (COM 10)
CI-V USB Echoback = ON
CI-V DATA Baud = 19200 (COM 11)
CI-V DATA Echoback = ON
USB (B) Data function = OFF

This setup works fine with DxBase logger and Sat32PC for the LEO satellites.

When i work via QO-100 the radio is set to SAT mode manually and DxBase works fine.

First, I have found the Omnirig .ini file
and see the tree [INITx] section.
I am using the CI-V Remote connector on the radio.

I also tried to uncheck the "Disconnect Cat at first off event"
and that seems to do the trick when the radio is in None Sat mode.
The frequency display is stable and does NOT go to
Offline after abt. 6 sec. as it did before.

There is still the problem that LOG4OM or Omnirig do not read
the satellite VFO frequencies when the radio is in SAT mode.
In SAT mode the radio has two receivers, MAIN and SUB where
MAIN normally is used for the Down Link and SUB for the Uplink.
If LOG4OM could detect that the radio is in SAT mode and display
the MAIN frequency in the VFO-A display and the SUB frequency in
the VFO-B display. I believe this is the solution to the Sat mode problem.

More info and status.

I have downloaded the new Omnirig.ini file from the Afreet download page.
I made a backup of my current Omnirig.Rigs folder and replaced the old .ini
files with the downloaded files. After restarting LOG4OM I am able to
select IC-9700. IC-9700 DATA or IC-9700 SAT in the drive selection in
the CAT setup dialog. So far so good. The drive enters sat mode but
the frequency display in LOG4OM still displays the old VFO A - VFO B values,
not the values for the Main and Sub Sat VFOs.

I do not know how LOG4OM communicate with Omnirig but I assume that
the SW interface is Drive independent and that you leave it to Omnirig
to read the correct VFO's in the radio and return the values to you.
If that is true, the problem is in to Omnirig. I will play around a little more
with the settings here and look closer at the Omnirig IC-9700 XXX.ini files.

if you have more info for me let me know and If i find out more or
get completely stuck I will post "a new cry for help" here.

Thanks for the response so far.

Correct, Omnirig if you like is an interpreter
