Customization & Setup questions

First I LOVE the new LOG4OM 2. It is awesome to see so many functionalities combined in a logging system and done so in such a visually pleasing way.

It may just be new-to-the-program ignorance, but i have these questions:

1. In the Main entry box, can I disable the "End" date/time field so it isnt even there or at least isnt entered when I enter a new QSO? (i have been deleting them by using "edit QSO" and then unchecking the "End" box before [re] saving, but cant find how to prevent it from ever populating in the first place)

2. I really like that i can add in the SKCC # of a station i work by using the "Extended Info (F5) tab on the right, but is there a way for me to add in a group i belong to that isnt listed (OMISS) so that i can enter the OMISS # of stations i work during an OMISS Net and thus enable me to to search thru QSO's to find entries that help me qualify for OMISS Awards?

3. Is there a way to get statistics to populate for Worked All Zones (WAZ) awards?

4. The CAT for my rig (Ten-Tec Jupiter/Omnirig) does not auto-populate the band and frequency into my log entries. Is there something I can do to fix that? Would Hamlib work better for me?

5. I see a new LOG4OM 2 release is available at the log4om website, but i dont see anywhere in my Log program itself to click on to "check for updates" or "download latest version"... In the Help > About menu it shows the version i have but i dont see anywhere to upgrade it to latest version. Do I just go to the website and download the new version and it will know to use my current log's data?

answers to any or all of the above will be greatly appreciated and THANK YOU for this awesome new logging program!

Re: #5 --

I just threw caution to the wind and downloaded the newest version [Log4OM2 – 2.0.1.0] from the main website: https://www.log4om.com/download/ and it incorporated all my former log entries and settings. 8-)

Hi, actually end time is always set. There is a special reason for disabling? (just to learn something new)
We can eventually add this as an option in a later release

Yes, you can copy clublist.txt file from your config folder (HELP -> Open config folder) into clublist_user.txt so it's not overwritten by new versions and edit adding your club name.
3. Is there a way to get statistics to populate for Worked All Zones (WAZ) awards?
We will soon add the WAZ award in the award list.
4. The CAT for my rig (Ten-Tec Jupiter/Omnirig) does not auto-populate the band and frequency into my log entries. Is there something I can do to fix that? Would Hamlib work better for me?
That worked correctly in V1?
5. I see a new LOG4OM 2 release is available at the log4om website, but i dont see anywhere in my Log program itself to click on to "check for updates" or "download latest version"... You have a yellow triangle sign in the middle of the logging area reporting for that. It's usually a gray book during normal use. Click on it.

Hope this help you :)

1. personally, I see zero reason to have a QSO end time (unnecessary for LoTW, etc) and would greatly appreciate having functionality to disable it.
I keep having to delete the end time because I dont always hit enter when a QSO is completed which makes the "end time" inaccurate and that leads to my having to re-open each entry and then manually edit already entered QSO's to delete the end time completely...

2. thanks, i am not exactly software literate, but i will try to do that without drowning in paralysis-by-analysis ... ;)
do i just rename the ammended clublist.txt file to "clublist_user.txt" or do i open the clublist.txt file, add the new club name (OMISS) and then choose File > "save as" > clublist_user.txt so that both txt files will exist?

3. Nice! Thank you.

4. I did not use V1. For the last ten years I have used AC Log but your V2 release is encouraging me to switch.

5. That yellow triangle was appreciated as it informed me a newer version was available, but did not include a link to the download site (or even better an option to click that would process the update instantly).

thank you again for this incredibly functional, free[!], logging program. apologies if i am asking you to dumb-it-down for my access when i just need to smarten up ;)

don't rename original file. Make a copy or Save As -> clublist_user.txt. Both should exists (and original one MUST be there)

I'm happy about that. What CAT engine did you used before? we support both Hamlib and Omnirig. Both are pretty straightforward in their config but we can arrange some kind of help if needed

Our official releases are released through www.log4om.com website. Here you can get also the latest changes.
We don't auto-update actually as some users want to do it manually

We're all happy about that :) Learning curve is not easy but once you have understood how it works you will find it intuitive
Grazie! :)
