Import/Merging ADIF file

Post by N5HC »

I'm on V 2.3.0.0

I'm trying to import/merge an ADIF file with updated QSL information about two existing QSO's.
I believe this worked in V1 and there where a specific place in the QSL/QSO management for this purpose.
In V2 I cant find any other option than import ADIF.

This fails as a duplicate entry.

Maybe this is by design and merging is not yet implemented.

I attached the Error Log.

You present an interesting question - I also wondered what fields are compared to come to the conclusion that its a duplicate QSO.

Just a guess: time. See the setting 'Duplicates threshold'.

If time is the factor, and believe it is so too, then how would you merge/update existing QSO's using an ADIF file?

I believe the Merge / Export / Import function uses several parameters. After exporting V1 files, and attempting to import them into V@, I discovered an error of ~ 500 QSO's. Terry quickly assisted me and explained that I had that many QSO's with some missing data that included dates, bands and frequencies. These were QSO's from the 70's that were originally captured in dBase and converted to ADIF. Apparently V2 does some checking and excluded those with missing data. Once corrected, the export / important worked correctly.

I imported a brand new (N1MM) ADIF QSO. No problems.

Then I re-imported the same ADIF QSO, and it was rejected as duplicate.

Then I modified one record (contest id) in the ADIF that imported correctly to start with.

Then I tried to import again, actually trying to merge, this modified ADIF and it also failed as a duplicate.

So the import does not work as a merge for my purpose.

Merging external updated QSL information as I believe it was available in V1 would be nice to have back.

Maybe its in the works.

Import it import it checked for dupes and rejects any it finds it is not a merge routine

Import in version 1 was not a merge facility

We already have merging for some functions like LOTW but an independent merge will be forthcoming when we get past high priority updates and bug fixes

My mistake, and you are correct it was not the the import ADIF in V1 that I used to merge an ADIF.
It was in QSL Managment that merge ADIF function was available.
Looking forward to something similar in V2.
