Western Sahara and ITU

Post by EA7KJE »

Hello all,

For some reason I couldn't set the correct ITU zone for this country. This is stablished on 37 but all ITU maps and QRZ.com say that the correct ITU zone is 46... What's the reason for that??

I known and help this country (old spanish colonial territory abandoned to her own luck and invaded by Morocco from more 40 years ago), that still fight for her independence. (You could find a lot of info on internet: UN included)

Anyway my question is about the ITU asignation on Log4OM.

Thank you so much!!

The problem is not Log4OM it´s a problem with the data at HamQTH which is wrong. Think if you are a
qrz.com xml subscriber (payment needed) and you have set the lookup to qrz.com instead of HamQTH
it will be show the correct ITU 46 instead of 37. The only way is that S01WS changes the data at the
HamQTH site.

By the way, i have send a message to S01WS that they should correct the HamQTH data.

S01WS ITU Zone 37 is wrong in the country.xml File, should be 46.

I solved it my way: I have modifyed the country.xml with Windos Editor, search for Western Sahara and changed ITUZone from 37 to 46.

If I did not modify the country.xml file, I could not change it in Edit QSO or Single field update, got an error message.

After change the country.xml form 37 to 46, the ITUZone for S01WS may be changed eather way:
- Edit QSO > ITU, select 46, or if you have more QSOs with S01WS
- go to QSO Manager > Single field update > Field to update > ITUZone NEW value put 46

I am not an expert, but it works for me !

Hello Hans,

have had also a few S01WS contacts in the log and tried your way. Changed the country.xml and
have done a bulk edit via the qso manager. All fine here and ITU zone now corrected to 46.

Thank´s for the tip ... 👍👍
