Change "my station" data on omnirig rig change

Post by sp9wpn »

Hi there,

I'm currently using two radios (HF and VHF) as two rigs under Omnirig. It's easy to select rig number in the top bar, but every time I need to manually change radio/antenna/power in My Station tab. Would be great if defaults change automatically on rig # selection.

(would be even greater if Log4OM could somehow read selected antenna from external source)

Wojtek,

Setting defaults is possible. See page 180 of the "current" User Guide ... clip is below.

Because Omnirig and Hamlib are external programs Log4OM has no way to know which radio is being used it just sees rig 1 or 2

We would have to limit the number of radios to just two allowed in the station info system and allocate a rig number to each radio.

Some users like me have more than two radios but use Log4OM manually for those not connected via CAT but I still need all my rigs in the station info system.

If at some future date we decide to code our own CAT engine then your request will be more feasible.

Thanks Nolan and Terry for responses,

I have rig/antenna default set up correctly. Unfortunately it works only if I change band on a radio - but it does not switch radios, even if configuration says current radio does not support selected band.

No, you wouldn't ;)
"Radio" in station configuration could get a "rig number". Were it zero (default), nothing will be done automatically, as it is now. Were it "1", selecting Omnirig #1 would change to this radio (and bands under it). Same for #2. This approach would not change experience of any user until they set it up.

BTW, with hamlib, number of rigs is practically unlimited, so this could became quite a feature for complex stations.
