MySQL Instructions

Post by g4nrt »

I have been happily using Log4OM for a while now but a new application that I want to install for my FlexRadios, requires that I change to the MySQL database. I tried to install it from the manual.

I looked at the very comprehensive instructions in the English version of the manual (dated 16/05/2016) but I am not seeing anything like the screenshots in the book! I am not sure whether I have done things correctly because when I get as far as running the Workbench I see totally different looking panels.

Is there an updated set of MySQL installation instructions?

I am running Windows 10 (with all the latest fixes) on a Microsoft Surface Book.

Thanks in advance and 73,

What application is this and why does it require MySQL?

The user guide may be out of date with respect to installing MySQL perhaps one of our avid MySQL experts can assist, both in advising you and in editing the user guide?

Hi Terry!

Thanks! I am sure that you are familiar with SATPC32 which is a very good programme for satellite communications.

David, W0DHB who has written articles in the US Amsat magazines has developed an application called FlexSATPC which bridges between SATPC32 and SmartSDR and it is this application that requires the MySQL database if I want to be able to log directly from the application.

David's notes say: "FlexSATPC assumes that your station is utilizing SATPC32 and Log4OM logging software. Log4OM must be configured to use a MySQL database" I don't know why!

I would appreciate a step-by-step walk-through from someone who is familiar with the newer versions of MySQL!

Thanks,

David

Hi Terry,

Here is a link to SatPC32: http://www.dk1tb.de/indexeng.htm.

However, Dave W0DHB doesn't have a public site that I can reference you to. He published a paper in the Amsat magazine and I could email you a copy of his article as a PDF if you need it. The only relevant bit really is the quote that I made above.

Personally, I think it looks like too much of a faff so I think I will look for other solutions!

What information is SatPC32 trying to save to or extract from Log4OM?
