Adobe & user manual

Post by 2e0pkh »

Hi, I'm having some problems version 2.17.0.0, It very slow to open/start up some times 2mins & slow to shut down, also I cannot open/down load the user manual. I click on down load manual & nothing happens the task manger shows that it is using 1 Gigabyte of memory just sitting there !! see picture. Also if I try to open a Adobe file once I have tried to open/download the user manual in log4om I cannot open any other Adobe file on the PC, the task manger shown that 2 Adobe are open see picture, I have to shut down Log4om & kill both Adobe in the task manger before I can open an Adobe file on the PC.
Many thanks.

Paul.

Paul,

I started having problems with the Adobe PDF Reader a couple years ago.

I removed it from my laptops and started using Foxit PDF Reader ... it is free. Have not had any issues since.

Give it a try.

Hi there, thanks for the info, the problem that you had was because of log4om or just some problems with Adobe ?.

Paul,

I was having many issues with the free Adobe Acrobat Reader. The first time I tried Foxit Reader I no longer had the issues.

Some of the issues I was experiencing were completely outside of Log4OM usage.

Can't hurt to try as it is free. Once you get comfortable with it you can do as you see fit with respect to Adobe's product. i removed it from my laptops.

So are you saying that I have to get rid of Adobe, because when log4om is installed on my PC it stops Adobe working !, & it makes log4om use a lot of memory ! I think that there must be a fault with with log4om not Adobe, or have I got it wrong some where.

No sir I am not saying that you have to get rid of Adobe. All I said was that I had been having problems with Adobe Reader myself prior to Log4OM. The Adobe issues just increased (for all my applications ... not just Log4OM) so I was advised to look into Foxit and it resolved "my" issues.

You can do as you see fit. It is your decision. I was only offering options that have worked for me and many other OMs and others I've worked with who are not ham operators and know nothing about Log4OM.

I have fixed the problem by back to version 2.16.0.0 now Adobe works OK & I can now access/down load the manual from log4om & my Adobe/Adobe programs now work OK, log4om is now using about 600Mb in idle mode instead of up too 2Gb, so the problem looks to be in the latest version 2.17.0.0 of log4om.

Many thanks.

Hi, version 2.18 has fixed the problem that I had with trying to open the manual from the main page of log4om& now I can open my Adobe photo shop & any other Adobe programs without having to go into the task manager & shutting down Adobe in there.

Hi guys, many thanks for helping me with me problems that I had with your software, like what to do etc. & thanks for thanking me for telling you that I had sorted the out the problem by using an older version. Anyway you have sorted it now thanks for doing that, & by the way I have not.... "have other personal problems to deal with or may have had a few drinks and its late at night" it would seem that you must get a LOT of unsatisfied people moaning on here I wonder why. I found the time to post the problems, it would have been nice if you had come back to me but may be you the person that's having..."other personal problems to deal with or may have had a few drinks and its late at night" enjoy your drink,

many thanks.
