Besides my base Home QTH profile, I have several others to reflect the Station Callsign (and associated station info) used during a QSO to assist with upload to external eQSL services. (e.g. M0RWX/P, MW0RWX/P, DL/M0RWX/P etc).
When I select any of these profiles and log a new QSO directly into Log4OM, it applies the various Station Information data including the references I have defined in the 'My References' section.
However, when importing an ADIF file (e.g. using an external program that generates an ADIF after operating portable) which contains the same Station Callsign as the one in the selected active profile, the references in the 'My References Section' under User Configuration is not applied during the ADIF Upload process.
The selections I use during import are: 1- Apply Quality Check corrections + Award Check = Deep + Duplicates Threshold = 0.
I have tried to enhance the ADIF file (via ADIF Master) by adding MyDxcc and MyCountry columns to match the info in the Station Information.
I also tried to remove the MySig and MySigInfo columns as well as adding the Operator and Owner data fields before an ADIf upload, all to no avail.
When I do run the QSO manager after the ADIF upload finishes, select the respective rows followed by "My" update tab and select the country via the dropdown, I can then hit the execute button to apply 'My References'.
Are 'My References' only meant to be applied in this manual fashion after the ADIF upload, or can they be applied during the ADIF upload process, but I am missing some matching logic somehow?
Searched the forums, checked the latest manual and watched the videos but am not able to make it work. Any pointers appreciated.

Please post an example of one QSO in the ADIF that you are IMPORTING - The ADIF created by the external program

Re: My References not applied during ADIF Import
Hi Terry,
The program I use for portable operations is Ham2K which creates a separate file for each reference being activated plus a general one.
For this example I activated one UKBOTA Reference + one POTA reference. Below I have included 3 QSOs out of the total of 40 from each file. One normal QSO, one Bunker to Bunker and one Park to Park. Same three QSOs picked from each ADIF file.
In my /P profile I have:
Station Information:
Station Callsign: M0RWX/P
Station Country = England & general Gridsquare populated
My References section:
WWBOTA@B/G-2007
POTA@GB-1073
When I upload the UKBOTA ADIF, I see the following:
- neither entries from 'My References' are populated
- MySig is populated with WWBOTA // MySigInfo is populated with B/G-2007 (except with the P2P entry where MySIG=POTA and MySigInfo=GB-0173
- Both P2P and B2B are populated under Sig and SigInfo
When I upload the POTA ADIF, i see the following:
- Only the POTA@GB-0173 is recorded under my references (not the UKBOTA one)
- MySig is populated with POTA // MySigInfo is populated with GB-0173
- Both P2P and B2B are populated under Sig and SigInfo
- However, only the P2P is recorded under the POTA reference; the B2B is not recorded under its reference (POTA and WWBOTA are two of the 6 references I allocated).
When I upload the general ADIF, I see the following:
- Only the POTA@GB-0173 is recorded under my references (not the UKBOTA one)
- MySig is populated with WWBOTA // MySigInfo is populated with B/G-2007
- Both P2P and B2B are populated under Sig and SigInfo
- However, only the P2P is recorded under the POTA reference; the B2B is not recorded under its reference (POTA and WWBOTA are two of the 6 references I allocated).
When I select QSO Manager > My Update, The My Reference is empty.
When I then select 'England, both references appear in the Award Box. When I then hit the execute button, it administers these.
If you require further information, please let me know.

Re: My References not applied during ADIF Import
With regard to BOTA there is no authorised ADIF field for BOTA in the ADIF format and because your field software saves that ref in the QSL Msg field its not considered an award ref - Solution store the BOTA ref in the comments field of the other program and Log4OM will recognise it
Data in a SIG field is not treated as an 'Award' ref
Data in a SIG field is not treated as an 'Award' ref

Re: My References not applied during ADIF Import
Thanks for the confirmation that an ADIF produced by Ham2K requires some additional post-import manipulation via QSO Manager for all the data to appear as expected.
Getting back to my original questions, why are the references defined in the 'My Reference' section for the selected profile not applied to each QSO when imported via ADIF, whereas they are applied when manually entering a QSO?

Re: My References not applied during ADIF Import
When importing an ADIF we dont change or modify data other than correcting incorrect DXCC numbers because, as an example using your case, you could be activating from a reference other than that recorded in the config.M0RWX wrote: 24 Mar 2025, 10:07 why are the references defined in the 'My Reference' section for the selected profile not applied to each QSO when imported via ADIF, whereas they are applied when manually entering a QSO?
You my Ref info should be applied by the external software and included in the ADIF file, I know some field software does this, I think SOTA is one of them!
Example
You go to some POTA site and have QSO's, your field software records the My Ref data for that location and exports it to ADIF
Log4OM imports that ADIF, should it change the ref in the ADIF to the one in your config which is different?
There has to be some user input to ensure the correct results are recorded. Its the old addage "Garbage in = Garbage out"
BTW 'Refresh data' or record updates take information from the on line lookup (External sources) which rarely include BOTA, SOTA, POTA or any of the other hundreds of award systems.

Re: My References not applied during ADIF Import
I would say yes, or at least the user should be given the option to overwrite a field according to the selected profile to overcome limitation in any ADIF file, at the same time making use of the powerful award functionality in Log4OM.G4POP wrote: 24 Mar 2025, 10:17 Log4OM imports that ADIF, should it change the ref in the ADIF to the one in your config which is different?
It can of course be rectified after each import by going to the QSO Manager, selecting My References, selecting the Country (which them populates the references as defined in the profile) and hit execute.
I understand the decision of course, but it would be nice if it all could be done in a single step as part of ADIF imports especially for which no dedicated ADIF fields exist.
Thanks again.

Yes we debate these decissions daily but its always a case of how far to go, like you suggest updating the My Ref but there is much more data that could be updated like SIG's, Memberships, My locator, my rig, my antenna, my power,my street, my lon, my lat etc etc etc - The list is endless and the more updates you do the slower the process becomes.
So our decission was to leave some updates to the user but do just the important ones like correct errors in DXCC and search for award refs.
However if you want to post this as a 'Feature request', if we see enough response for it from other users we will certainly re-consider
