QSL Information

Post by iz0rga »

Hi guys,
I tried to take a look at the manual and to search on the board but I didn't find anything, and this is unusual as I am sure not to be the only one with this issue, so I apologize in advance if there is some post about it...

Although I have flagged "Fill data using previous QSO" under settings, all the data from the previous QSO is effectively copied except the QSL information. Is there a way to also copy this information or at least just the fields "QSL Sent/Received/Via"?
By this way I right away know whether or not to compile a new QSL card without checking it by the QSL Manager.

Is there also some way to set the default mode to something different from SSB? (i.e CW)

Thanks in advance for your time.

Hi Manuel,
Welcome to the forum.

It's a good idea about copying the QSL status from previous QSO's but I think it should be a user choice because not all of us would want that, I wonder if other users would care to comment?

Don't realy understand your question about default mode, the mode follows the frequency set on the rig when using CAT control?

Hi Terry,

thanks fer your quick response.
I think it is a waste of time going through the qsl manager and/or scroll down then open all previously worked qso to check it, and a waste of paper and money to send several QSL to same station maybe also worked on the same band. But this is just what is on my mind :D

When using CAT connected rig, the mode follows the rig correctly, but I usually use an old RIG not CAT aware. What I was wondering is if there is ability to set something so when Log4om starts up is not set to SSB but to CW (or any other "preferred" mode).

Thanks again

I would be opposed to this suggestion as I might not want to QSL for a repeat QSO as I might have already received one from the station.

This is probably what I mean, and my very bad italian english doesn't help.
The actual QSL information for a worked station does not tell you whether or not you have already send (or received) a card. You have to go through the qsl manager and/or open one of the previous qso to know...

You can view the station QSL status in F7 after typing the call into the Call Sign filed of F1 if you have the QSL status fields selected for display via the Layout for F7.

Guess I'm saying that the information is there already or I still don't understand the request.

You're right, but you have to set that layout (may be you prefer to have a quick look to something different) in any case and for a proper work of the qsl manager, you have to valorise those fields manually. So...I type the call in the Call Sign field, then switch to F7 (or have to open one of the previous qso) check the QSL status, go back to F1: the QSL was sent? Yes, it was...ok set it To YES. Was received? YES! Ok set it to YES...by bureau? YES! Ehmmm no it was Direct! Maybe Electronic??? Sh... I forget it...then go back to F7 (or have to open one of the previous qso), check it again, go back again.... :?

The chance to have "some data filled from previously qso", including QSL status, Notes, Comments, ect is common to most ham logging software and i think it could be helpful not only to speed up the filling in of fields instead of getting them by external sources

Ok now I understand.

No you can't change this behaviour but I can add it to Mantis as a feature for future consideration

Possible a user defined default in options
