Winkeyer suggestions

Post by NN7D »

I've been working with a friend to get him up and running on Log4OM. This is an avid DX'er and contester who has made the DXCC honor roll. He operates mostly CW. He has been mostly thrilled with Log4OM so far. He has however suggested a couple of improvements to the all ready great Winkeyer feature of Log4OM. I have to agree with him - both of these features would be welcome.

1) A way to 'wipe' the call window clean, in the event a call sign is entered, then not worked. (e.g. I change bands/modes, or simply tune up the band and find another station.) Not a big deal, but I have to mouse the cursor up to the call window, then backspace over the 'old' call. (I got spoiled by N1MM's 'wipe' button, or using ALT + W to 'wipe' the call window clean.) Or a double click clear as with the main Log4OM callsign field.

2) I'd personally like to have a keystroke method of changing CW speed ' on the fly', a la N1MM's 'page up/page dn' feature to allow me to adjust my CW speed a bit more quickly when sending. (But this would be in addition to the EXISTING up/dn arrows on the Speed setting.)

Thanks for your consideration of these features.

If you are refering to the main QSO window we already provid alt+w or press the escape (esc) key on your keyboard to clear the QSO data!

This is a good idea and I will add it to our Mantis list, no promises when Lele will have time to implement however :D

Hi Terry,

On the first item, I am referring to the Winkeyer window, CW Log tab, callsign field. Yes, alt-W might be another way to wipe it clean.

Thanks!

Have you tried the "Clear data" button at the bottom right of the Winkeyer window?

Terry,

Yes, but that clears the log also, which we would rather not do... And would prefer a way to clear from the keyboard, so as not to have to grab the mouse during CW ops from keyboard and paddle.

Thanks. Doug - W7DRM
