New user, error message not connected to any database

Post by VK6EI »

Hi folks,

I am returning to AR after an 8 year break due to us moving into an area that had severe antenna restrictions. I have finally got permission to put up an antenna, only a vertical for now but I am back on air.

I have installed LOG4OM on my iMac (OS X Yosemite) which I use VMware Fusion to run Windows 7 on. I go through the setup process, and create a database etc, when I attempt to log a worked station I get an error message--

NOT CONNECTED TO ANY DATABASE OR DATABASE ERROR. OPEN OR CREATE A NEW DATABASE.

I have tried several times to create databases, have uninstalled software, reinstalled it again and started over yet I keep running into this error.

Has it come up before and if so is there a known work around?

I very much appreciate any assistance to point me in the right direction.

Hi Tim,
Have you went to File>Open Database and located your new database? Try that and let us know the result. Thanks.

Hi Chuck,

I have indeed tried that, believe me posting the request for help has been a tough decision. I have tried a multitude of dirrerent things but it has me stumped. Have uninstalled, rebooted, reinstalled gone through the config and then created a new database (having deleted the previous ones created) the opened the database yet still get the same error, also noticed in the bottom right of the main display it does say "NOT CONNECTED".

Has me stumped.

Sorry it is 00:20 here in Perth, I am going to pull the plug and hit the horizontal, have a day off work tomorrow so I shall have another look with fresh head & eye's in the morning, I have just run out of ideas.

Thanks for assistance, very much appreciated.

Regards

Tim.

Don't know what to tell you as I don't have a Mac and it could be something unique in the Windows emulator.

Daniele may have the answer.

Where (path) is the database stored?

Have you tried using the portable version with all files stored and run from cloud storage like Google drive or Dropbox or even a thumb drive?
