I use a Flex 6500. In their latest software release they just added Free DV support. Generically I assume this falls into a "digital mode", but another mode selection was added to the Flex GUI. Will Log4OM automatically recognize and categorize Free DV as "digital"? I'll be loading it up tonight so I can report back if you aren't sure how it will respond.
Going to be interesting to see how the DX Cluster will handle Free DV.
Thanks

Re: Free DV Support?
Hi ?
Providing the mode is defined in the Flex software with the correct ADIF mode definition "DIGITALVOICE" ,see the link below, it should be saved as a digital mode

Re: Free DV Support?
I just made my first two FreeDV contacts and verified that the latest Flex software does NOT properly designate the mode. It is recognized as SSB. I forwarded your last response to the Flex team, so they can correct that in the next update. Thanks Terry!

Re: Free DV Support?
Just discovered another potential issue. I manually changed the mode from SSB to DIGITAL VOICE. Uploaded by contacts to LOTW and received an error message that DIGITAL VOICE is an invalid mode (in line 17). Going to call the LOTW people at ARRL tomorrow.

Bob,
This is the problem when important manufacturers and organisations lag behind developers and advancing technology
Depends how they categorise DV it could be SSB. Or Digital but I recall the DV developers insisting it was Digital when the requested it's inclusion as a specific mode in the ADIF developers group

I've made you part of the communications I started between Flex, FreeDV and LOTW. LOTW says FreeDV is considered "PHONE", which as far as I can tell is not even an accepted mode - is it? SSB, AM, and FM are all phone. I can see the problem you face! Any other ideas how we can selectively identify FreeDV contacts? Check ur arrl.org e-mail

Re: Free DV Support?
All voice modes have been classified as phone by LOTW/ARRL/DXCC for some years now.
So when we send an SSB or an FM QSO it is classified by LOTW as phone
If they have decided that Digital Voice is phone that's fine providing they translate DV to phone when we do an upload the same as they do for SSB etc - Seems they have not got around to that yet?
Life would be much easier if they conformed with ADIF and virtually all logging programs but they won't
