It is ok now Terry, last few qso's logged very quick. I still in my mind think the last round of MS updates messes it up.
Another ham over on the Flex forum had a freeze problem with FLdigi, I told him about my removal of KB3022345 and the subsequent KB3068708.

So far that has solved his issue. Wonder why just a few folks.
