Thanks for everything to date, Terry. I have tried both cables, on all the different setups I can manage with both computers and both rigs, but all fail to display the frequency.
I'm now at the end of this investigation. I'm not sure what else I can possibly do, so at this stage, simply for convenience, I will revert back to using HRD.

Maybe I will come back in a few months time, when the brain has had a chance to refresh and start all over, but for now, I'm reverting back.

I have downloaded and started from scratch on a different Windows10 pc, and with a different rig (450D) but still have the same problem.

This would indicate a faulty cable

Try the same connection used by HRD

Make certain that no other program like HRD or WSJT is using the same com port

What version of Omnirig are you using? the two rig version or the four rig version?

There is a way to put omnirig in debug mode and it creates a file for troubleshooting.
